New Korngold CD released on Chandos Records

This week sees the release of our latest recording for Chandos Records and our first collaborative disk. We make a return to the chamber music of Korngold to record his Piano Quintet and String Sextet. We are joined on this disk by three great friends and colleagues – Kathy Stott (piano), Jennifer Stumm (viola) and Bartholomew Lafollette (cello).

Great critical reception for our Schumann CD

Our latest recording for Chandos Records of the Schumann String Quartets has already received some great reviews and press attention.
It has been chosen as Disk of the Month in the December 2011 editions of both BBC Music Magazine and Gramophone Magazine thus becoming the first recording to have ever received both accolades!
It was also selected as one of BBC Radio 3′s Critics’ Choice recordings of 2011

In the Studio recording Korngold

Back in July we returned to the recording studio to record our fourth CD for Chandos Records. We also returned to the music of Korngold with his Piano Quintet and String Sextet. This was a very exciting recording period as we were joined by three great friends and colleagues - Kathy Stott (piano), Jennifer Stumm (viola) and Bartholomew Lafollette (cello). We hope that the success that our recording of Korngold’s Quartets has had will also come to this new recording. These are two masterpieces that deserve to be heard more often. The CD will be released in early 2012.

New General Management

We are delighted to announce that we have been signed by Sulivan Sweetland Artist Management who will represent us in a General Management capacity. This move marks the end of our relationship with YCAT (Young Concert Artists Trust) who have looked after us over the past 4 years. We have had a wonderful time with YCAT and greatly value all the time and support they have given us. We are now looking forward to the new relationship with Sulivan Sweetland as our career continues to develop and blossom.

Outstanding Critical Reception for Korngold CD

Our debut CD on Chandos of the complete Korngold Quartets has been released for almost 6 months now and has been receiving glowing reviews from critics all over the world. Selected as one of the 2010 “Critic’s Choice” disks in Gramophone it has also received three 5 star reviews in German music magazines. All reviews will be available to view on our new website when it is launched next month.

Continuing the CD theme of this newsletter, we are off to Potton Hall in Suffolk again to record the three quartets by Schumann. We have been immersing ourselves in the world of Schumann over the past few months and have had a fascinating time exploring the complexities and wonderfully evocative landscapes of this composer. This is a very exciting project for us as it marks our first foray into mainstream repertoire for Chandos (no disrespect to Walton or Korngold intended!).
