This spring sees the release of our latest two recordings for Chandos Records.
In March we released the latest instalment in our survey of Haydn String Quartets with the set of six op 64s.
In May we will release an exciting collaborative recording with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and conductor Peter Oundjian, with whom we have recorded John Adams’s Absolute Jest for String Quartet and Orchestra. This is a work that we have performed often, including giving the Austrian premiere of the piece with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and John Adams himself conducting.
Happy New Year! We are delighted to welcome in 2017 with our latest CD for Chandos Records – Schubert’s Quartettsatz and the great G Major quartet. This is a milestone for the Quartet as the G Major is one of the highpoints of the string quartet repertoire and is a work that we have lived with for over a decade. To buy the cd click here
2016 starts excitingly with the release of our new Haydn CD, the opus 76s, another big step in our huge Haydn journey! We will be celebrating by playing the 6 wonderful quartets in a big weekend at the Wigmore Hall, on the 20th and 21st of February.
We are thrilled to announce that from September 2015 we will become Teaching Quartet in Association at the Royal Academy of Music, London. We are so excited to begin this new chapter in our quartet life and look forward to working at this wonderful institution!

We are starting the 2015/16 season with the release of our latest CD on Chandos Records – the string chamber music of Brett Dean! We are thrilled to celebrate our long lasting collaboration with the wonderful Australian composer and violist in this recording and it has recieved great reviews already!
The busy last season saw the release of our Janacek and Martinu CD, as well as an extremely exciting new collaboration with Angelika Jacob from the Goette artist management agency in Germany. We also recorded the Haydn Opus 76 Quartets – look out for the release in January 2016.
We are now preparing for concerts at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam as well as a Wigmore concert with Elisabeth Leonskaja, and diving into fantastic pieces such as Bartok 4, Schumann 1, Haydn op 64s, and Debussy for the French touch!

We are delighted to be able to announce two new local mangers for the Quartet. We have been taken on by Paloma Viana whose agency La Mascara de Orfeo (http://www.lamascaradeorfeo.com/) will represent the quartet in Spain. We have also been signed by Shannen Liu of Liu ProMotion (http://www.liupromotion.com/) who will represent the quartet in the Far East with a particular emphasis on China and Taiwan.
We have just heard that our 2011 recording of the complete Schumann Quartets has been nominated for a 2012 Gramophone Award in the Chamber category! We are extremely excited about this and follows on from the disk being the first ever recording to be chosen as disk of the month in both Gramophone and BBC Music Magazine. This week sees the release of our latest recording for Chandos Records and our first collaborative disk. We make a return to the chamber music of Korngold to record his Piano Quintet and String Sextet. We are joined on this disk by three great friends and colleagues – Kathy Stott (piano), Jennifer Stumm (viola) and Bartholomew Lafollette (cello).

Our latest recording for Chandos Records of the Schumann String Quartets has already received some great reviews and press attention.
It has been chosen as Disk of the Month in the December 2011 editions of both BBC Music Magazine and Gramophone Magazine thus becoming the first recording to have ever received both accolades!
It was also selected as one of BBC Radio 3′s Critics’ Choice recordings of 2011
